Green grass during winter white

Here in the Mid-Atlantic, lawns are rarely covered by snow and ice all winter.  For those times when there isn’t much white stuff on the ground, homeowners usually face ugly brown grass.  However, these brown lawns don’t have to be a fact of life, as this article demonstrates.

At this point, there’s not much you can do for this winter season, but you can start planning for the summer now.  One option is to change the grass in your lawn to a variety that does better in the cold or transitional zones.  Another option would be adding a transitional or cool variety to your lawn so that you have two varieties of grass growing.  One final point is that to maintain green grass in the winter, you’ll have to continue cutting it all winter.
