More low voltage vs. solar lighting

Here’s another take on the long-running low voltage versus solar lighting debate.  As always, there’s no winner in this contest.  It comes down to which pros and cons apply to your situation.  Here is one thing you don’t need to factor into your deliberations, and one thing you do need to think about.

You don’t need to worry about kids or pets getting electric shocks with either form of lighting.  This gives them a big advantage over line voltage lighting.  Even though low voltage lighting is wired to an electrical source, it doesn’t have enough power to cause shocks.

You should think about the length and width of the area you want to light.  With the low light level solar lighting puts out, you may need more lights to achieve the look you want.  As the article points out, you could wind up with a walkway that resembles an airport runway.
